FG Imposes Travel Ban On 13 Countries Over Coronavirus (Full List)
Coronavirus in Nigeria has taken a new twist with the Federal Government imposing a travel ban on 13 countries.
NewsOne Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari‘s “Next Level” administration has imposed travel restriction on countries with over 1,000 cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
This burgeoning online news platform reports that this was disclosed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha during a press briefing on Wednesday, March 18.

“These are all countries with over 1,000 case domestically,” the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said in a press briefing on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, this is coming weeks after a former Vice President and the 2019 Presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, advised President Buhari to suspend flights from high-risk countries.
Atiku had said, “Nigeria needs firm and decisive actions to prevent an escalation of the scourge. Recently, we closed our borders as an act against economic sabotage. Perhaps now is the time to temporarily halt flights to and from any nation with a prevalence of this scourge. It is more important to secure human lives than to secure an economy. We also need to invest in early detection facilities at our airports.
“We must call upon our experience with the Wild Ebola Virus, of which we were the first nation in the world to defeat that scourge in 2014. How did Nigeria do it? We achieved it by showing unprecedented unity. The federal government of the day worked closely with the Lagos and Rivers state governments. There was complete unity, solidarity and oneness of purpose, which created the atmosphere that defeated that deadly infestation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the decision of the Federal Government is coming barely 24 hours after Coronavirus in Nigeria took a new twist with the Lagos State Ministry of Health announcing a third confirmed case of Coronavirus in the West African country.
NewsOne Nigeria reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Health confirmed that there is yet another case of the ravaging coronavirus in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city and that the patient is said to be an independent case not connected with the index case.
The 30-year-old Nigerian female carrier, who returned from the United Kingdom on Friday, 13 March 2020, observed self-isolation, developed symptoms and has been tested positive. She is now receiving care in Mainland General Hospital.

The Federal Ministry of Health on Friday morning, February 28, confirmed the first case of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.
