Kogi State, northcentral Nigeria, has recorded two of its first Coronavirus cases.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the suspected Coronavirus (COVID-19) case as positive in a statement released on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Wednesday evening, May 28.

This burgeoning online news platform understands that the first two cases of Coronavirus in Kogi brings the number of cases of coronavirus in Nigeria to eight thousand, seven hundred and thirty-three (8733) from the eight thousand, three hundred and forty-four (8344) on Tuesday evening, May 27.

Giving an update on the spread of the disease, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) tweeted: “389 new cases of #COVID19; Lagos-256 Katsina-23 Edo-22 Rivers-14 Kano-13 Adamawa-11 Akwa Ibom-11 Kaduna-7 Kwara-6 Nasarawa-6 Gombe-2 Plateau-2 Abia-2 Delta-2 Benue-2 Niger-2 Kogi-2 Oyo-2 Imo-1 Borno-1 Ogun-1 Anambra-1 8733 cases of #COVID19Nigeria Discharged: 2501 Deaths: 254,” the tweet added.

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that the development means that Nigeria’s total confirmed cases of coronavirus have risen to eight thousand, seven hundred and thirty-three (8733) with two thousand, five hundred and one (2501) people discharged and two hundred and fifty-four (254) deaths recorded so far.
