Hope Uzodinma House attack has left a fire fighter dead.
NewsOne Nigeria had reported earlier that the gunmen invaded the Governor’s residence in Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, southeast Nigeria in early hours of Saturday, April 24, 2021, setting the governor’s house on fire.
This online news platform understands that apart from setting Governor Hope Uzodimma house on fire, the gunmen reportedly killed two security men on duty before torching it.
Reports have it that vehicles parked at the compound and part of the building were affected by the fire.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, confirmed the incident in a chat with The Nation.
The Commissioner said: “It is true but the information is not still clear. It is not true that several security men lost their lives. About two security men on duty at the governor’s house were killed. NSCDC personnel was among the security men who lost their lives during the attack.”
However, hours after the attack, an exclusive investigation into the attack by suspected hoodlums on the house of the Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, at Omuma in Oru East local government area of Imo State by Vanguard newspaper, revealed that an officer of the Imo state fire service, was shot dead by the hoodlums.
The report identified the name of the fire fighter as Atenesuis Iheakor, a level eight officer. It was gathered that Iheakor is married with about five children.
