BREAKING: Fire Guts Lagos Government Staff Quarters in Ogba

A fire broke out at Lagos Government Staff Quarters in Ogba early Friday morning.

Newsone Nigeria reports that a fire broke out early Friday morning at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road in Ogba, Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city.

This online news platform understands that the Lagos Government Staff Quarters in Ogba fire which started around 2:20 a.m., severely damaged a two-storey building, specifically one of the two-bedroom apartments in Flat 5, located in Block 21—a three-storey structure comprising 16 two-bedroom flats.

Initial investigations by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical surge in the children’s room.

The incident resulted in the complete destruction of the room and significant property damage, estimated to be worth millions of naira.

Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed that the quick response by LASEMA’s Response Team (LRT), along with the Nigerian Police Force and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, helped to contain and extinguish the fire before it could spread further.

“The prompt and coordinated efforts of the Agency’s LRT, NPF, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, ensured the fire was contained and extinguished quickly.

“Fortunately there was no loss of life and injuries sustained in the incident,” Oke-Osanyitolu stated.

The LASEMA Permanent Secretary added that residents were also educated on the safe use of electrical appliances following the incident.

As of 5 a.m., emergency personnel were still at the scene, ensuring the situation was fully under control.
