Funke Akindele Pleads Guilty On COVID-19 Lockdown Violation
Funke Akindele has pleaded guilty for defiling the orders of the Lagos state government which had ordered Lagosians to stay at home.
Newsone Nigeria reports that the Nollywood actress and her musician husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skills, were arraigned before a magistrate court in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city on Monday.
Newsone Nigeria had reported earlier that Funke Akindele organised a house party to celebrate her husband JJC’s birthday at her residence in Amen Estate Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city on Saturday, April 4.
This burgeoning online news platform understands that the COVID-19 lockdown house party attracted more than the permissible number in line with the restriction order to contain COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the dignitaries that attended the party included; Naira Marley, Rasheed Gbadamosi, a former Lagos state governorship aspirant among others.
On Sunday evening, the Lagos State Police Command arrested the Nollywood actress for hosting party despite the lockdown in Lagos over COVID-19.
Confirming the arrest of the actress in a statement on Sunday evening, the Lagos Police spokesperson, DSP Bala Elkana, said: “Attention of Lagos State Police Command was drawn to a viral video showing a large number of persons mainly in the entertainment industry in an Estate, along Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki axis, Lagos celebrating a birthday party organised by Funke Akindele Bello and her husband.
“Police detectives from the State CID Yaba were promptly drafted to the location.
“Funke Akindele was arrested. Investigation is ongoing, efforts are intensified to arrest the remaining persons in the video, among whom are Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley and Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz.
“They are in their best interests urged to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April 2020 or risk being declared wanted,” the statement added.
The Federal Government last week ordered a total lockdown for residents of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun States to curb the spread of COVID-19. President Muhammadu Buhari made the announcement during a broadcast.
