Newsone reports that the Oyo State Government has declared Friday, May 21, 2021, a public holiday.

The Friday public holiday, Newsone reports, was made known in a statement on Thursday by Governor Seyi Makinde’s spokesman, Taiwo Adisa, made the announcement.

Newsone reports that Governor Makinde approved the holiday to enable the state conduct a hitch-free local government election scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2021.

Governor Makinde advised residents to carry out their activities peacefully, and go to their respective areas en masse to vote.

Newsone reports that the governor reminded them that voting was their civic responsibility and urged them to participate.
