BREAKING: Government Declares Tuesday, November 2 Public Holiday
Public holiday has been declared for Tuesday, November 2 by government.
Newsone reports that the Governor of Bayelsa State, southern Nigeria, Douye Diri, has declared today, Tuesday November 2, 2021 as work-free day (public holiday).
This online news platform understands that the publlic holiday is to enable workers in the public and private sectors actively take part in the state’s Annual Thanksgiving service.
Governor Diri announced the decision through a ‘Government Special Announcement’ issued on Monday in Yenagoa by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Ayibaina Duba.
Newsone reports that the Bayelsa State Governor said the decision was backed by the state annual thanksgiving law.
The statement reads as thus; ”His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State has declared Tuesday, 2nd November 2021 as work-free day in line with the State Annual Thanksgiving Law to enable both public and private sector workers participate fully.
“The clergy, friends, and the good people of Bayelsa State are cordially invited to join hands with the state government to appreciate God Almighty for His unending mercies and abundant blessings for the land and people of the state.”
Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that this year’s thanksgiving marks the 10th edition since the Bayelsa State Thanksgiving Day Law, 2012 was signed by former governor Seriake Dickson, now a Senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly.
