BREAKING: Helicopter Carrying Assembly Member Crashes, Scores Injured

A helicopter carrying an Assembly member has crashed, leaving several people injured.

Newsone reports that a helicopter carrying Arabajahan Member of County Assembly (MCA) Abey Jimaale crashed on Monday at the Wajir Airport runway while taking off.

This online news platform understands that the Prime Aviation helicopter registration 5Y-SDL was piloted by Captain Kiroken and Captain James Ndirangu, according to the police.

It was learned that Ndirangu sustained shoulder and right-hand injuries, while Kiroken sustained head injuries in the noon accident.

On the other hand, Assembly Member Abey got head injuries from the helicopter crash.

“They were rushed to Wajir County Referral Hospital where they were treated and referred to Nairobi for further treatment while in stable condition,” Wajir Airport police station report reads.

Further, the police have revealed that the aircraft was extensively damaged, and investigations are underway to establish the circumstances of the accident.

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that the crash occurred shortly before a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter crashed during take-off. The chopper supplied food to flood-affected families in Buna Town, Wajir North.

Wajir County Red Cross Coordinator Abdia Manya said several people, including the pilots and teachers, sustained injuries and were taken to the Buna Sub-county Hospital.
