This online news platform understands that sources at the Supreme court confirmed that Justice Sylvester Ngwuta died in the early morning of Sunday, March 7, 2021, in his sleep at his official residence in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, at almost the age of seventy.

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta was said to be getting set for his retirement from the Supreme Court on March 30, 2021 upon attainment of 70 years mandatory retirement age.

NewsOne Nigeria recalls that Justice Sylvester Ngwuta was one of the justices whose homes were broken into by State Security Service (SSS) at midnight for alleged corruption in 2017.”

Also confirming Justice Sylvester Ngwuta’s death, a former attorney for the ENDSARS Movement, Abdul Mahmud, tweeted: “#Breaking. A sad one for the bar and bench this morning. Supreme court justice, Sylvester Ngwuta, is dead. Aged 69, he was due for retirement this month. He was one of the justices whose homes were broken into by SSS in 2017.”
