Three-storey building has collapsed in Ebute Metta, Lagos with many residents trapped in it.
Newsone reports that tragedy struck on Sunday night when a three-storey building collapsed on Ibadan Street in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city.
This online news platform understands that the Head of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday night, May 1, 2022.
The Head of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services said some people, who resided in the building that collapsed, had been trapped, adding that a search and rescue operation was ongoing to rescue the trapped victims.
As of the time, this report was filed, Newsone Nigeria could not confirm if any death had been recorded as a result of the incident.
Adeseye said, “An alert of a collapsed three-storey building on 32 Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta, was received around 9.48 pm on Sunday, with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service already at the scene.“A search and rescue operation is ongoing to rescue some of the trapped victims. It is a residential building that collapsed. More updates will be communicated.”
Newsone learned that over 11 persons have been reportedly rescued from the building sited at 32, Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta, Lagos mainland. It was gathered it caved in at about 9:48 pm yesterday (Sunday) with an unspecified number of occupants trapped. Rescue is still ongoing by first responders.
