Newsone reports that the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a secessionist group in Nigeria, Nnamdi Kanu, has engaged the services of another Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chukwuma Machukwu Umeh (SAN), to strengthen his defence team.
This online news platform understands that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu‘s decision to hire the top Nigerian lawyer was disclosed by one of his lawyers, Aloy Ejimakor, on Monday evening, March 14, 2022.
“Just exited from a groundbreaking visitation with Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It was groundbreaking because we covered many new grounds, including the addition of Chukwuma Machukwu Umeh (SAN) to the Legal Team.
“Onyendu sends his love and felicitation to all his true followers,” Ejimakor wrote on his social media page.
Newsone reports that this is coming after Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had on January 18, unveiled Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) as the leader of the defence counsel for Nnamdi Kanu.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at that time was expected to appear in court before Justice Binta Nyako to resume the 15-count charge levelled against him by the Nigerian government.
Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu is facing treasonable charges brought against him by the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
