BREAKING: Nigeria National Grid Suffers First Collapse in 2025

President Bola Tinubu

The national grid has collapsed, disrupting power supply in Nigeria.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the national electricity grid collapsed in Nigeria on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, causing widespread power outage across the country.

The data released by the Independent System Operator (ISO) showed that power generation dropped sharply from 2,917.83 megawatts to 1.5 megawatts between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, in a statement posted on X, confirmed the incident, citing a loss of supply from the grid at 11:23 am.

“The power outage currently being experienced is due to a loss of supply from the national grid, affecting electricity supply across our franchise areas,” AEDC stated.

AEDC added that efforts were ongoing with relevant stakeholders to restore power once the grid is stabilized.
