Peter Obi Dumps PDP After Gang Up, Takes Next Action
Peter Obi has dumped PDP after a gang up against him.
Newsone reports that a former governor of Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, and a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi has left the main opposition party.
A report monitored on Peoples Gazette by Newsone Nigeria, quoted Peter Obi to have confirmed his exit from the PDP on Wednesday evening, May 25, 2022, “saying he caught wind of a gang up against him.”
Newsone Nigeria reports that Peter Obi’s exit from the PDP coming on the eve of hotly-contested presidential primaries came at a time the Anambra state politician expressed fears he might be humiliated at the PDP convention in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
This online news platform understands that Peter Obi also withdrew from the PDP Presidential Primary but despite this, he did not immediately disclose his next platform.
Meanwhile, Newsone reports that Peter Obi’s resignation from PDP is expected to put an additional spotlight on the PDP’s primaries scheduled to be held in Abuja this weekend, where Mr Obi was initially seen as a front runner in a race that includes Atiku Abubakar, Nyesom Wike, Dele Momodu, Bukola Saraki, and other bigwigs.
A spokesman for the PDP did not immediately return a request seeking comments.
The report quoted a source familiar with the development to have said that Obi feared he might not do well at the convention, despite his widespread popularity and fame amongst everyday Nigerians.
