Tanko Muhammad has resigned as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Newsone reports that the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, has resigned, according to Channels Television.

This online news platform understands that Channels Television quoted sources to have said that the Chief Justice of Nigeria resigned on Sunday night, June 26, citing ill-health as the reason for his decision.

Arrangements are ongoing to swear in the next most senior justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olukayode in an acting capacity, the report added.

Newsone Nigeria understands that the report noted that a formal announcement will be made shortly.

Meanwhile, Newsone reports that Tanko Muhammad was said to be seriously ill before his resignation as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
