BREAKING: Imo State Records First Coronavirus Case

Nigeria has recorded the highest number of coronavirus in a day since COVID-19 first berthed in the country in February.

Newsone Nigeria reports that cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria have risen to 65 with the confirmation of 14 new cases by the NCDC.

This burgeoning online news platform understands that of the fourteen coronaviruses recorded on Thursday evening, six were detected on a vessel, three are returning travellers into Nigeria and one is a close contact of a confirmed case, a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Thursday evening, March 26 by the NCDC revealed.

Giving an update on the spread of the disease, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) tweeted: “14 new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 2 in FCT, 12 in Lagos.

“Of the 14, 6 were detected on a vessel, 3 are returning travellers into Nigeria & 1 is close contact of a confirmed case.

“As at 8:35 pm 26th March, there are 65 confirmed cases, 3 discharged, 1 death,” the tweet added.

Meanwhile, the development means Lagos now has 44 cases, FCT- 12, Ogun- 3, Ekiti- 1, Oyo- 1, Edo- 1, Bauchi-1, Osun-1, Rivers-1, bringing the number of cases recorded in the country to 65 confirmed case.

The disease centre added in its tweet that: “Further epidemiological information will be shared in our daily situation report, collated at midnight of each day.”

Newsone Nigeria reports that the new development is coming on a day the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced his Coronavirus test result. The minister disclosed this at a media briefing in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Thursday, days after meeting Covid-19 infected Abba Kyari.
