Newsone reports that the Nigerian Air Force has said, its MI-171 Helicopter on a casualty evacuation mission crashed on Monday, 14 August 2023 at about 1300 hours (1pm) near Chukuba Village in Niger State, northern Nigeria.

This online news platform understands that the Nigerian Air Force Aircraft crash was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.

Air Commodore Gabkwet said in the statement that the Nigerian Air Force Aircraft had departed Zungeru Primary School en route to Kaduna but was later discovered to have crashed near Chukuba Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the crew and passengers on board the helicopter. He said preliminary investigations have commenced to determine the probable cause of the crash.
