BREAKING: Nigerian Governors Meet in Abuja Over August 1 Protest

Nigerian Governors are meeting in Abuja over the August 1 Protest.

Newsone Nigeria reports that Governors from the 36 federation states are meeting in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja in response to a planned nationwide protest slated for August 1, 2024.

This online news platform understands that the 36 Nigerian Governors under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, are meeting at the NGF secretariat in the nation’s capital.

A report filed by Channels TV, says some governors started arriving at the meeting venue at about 8 pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

The Governors already on the ground are Lawal Dauda of Zamfara, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, and Alex Otti of Abia State.

This is as the governors of Enugu, Peter Mbah, and Borno States, Babagana Zulum, sent their deputies to represent them.

The agenda of the meeting is currently not made public, however, it may not be unconnected to the planned nationwide protests scheduled for August 1 to 10.

Meanwhile, Newsone had reported earlier that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, and the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, had met with ministers over the planned August 1 Protest.
