Edo 2020: I Pray To Lose Edo Election If... Governor Obaseki

Obaseki has emerged PDP candidate for Edo 2020 unopposed.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, for Edo 2020 election.

The governor’s emergence as the Edo PDP governorship candidate for Edo 2020 came after his only rival in the PDP primary election, Ken Imasuagbon, stepped down for the Edo Governor to return unopposed.

Imasuagbon, who had previously vowed not to step down for Obaseki prior to the primary election, announced his withdrawal from the race a few minutes to the commencement of the party Governorship Primaries for the governorship election scheduled for September 2020.

Although Obaseki’s only rival, Imasuagbon has stepped down from the contest where 2,229 delegates will choose the PDP governorship flagbearer, NewsOne Nigeria understands that voting will still go on for affirmation of Obaseki’s candidacy.

NewsOne Nigeria understands that all is set for voting to begin in the PDP Primary election at the Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City, where the Edo Governor who joined PDP after being disqualified by the APC Screening Committee will emerge the PDP for Edo 2020 unopposed.
