A popular Nigerian singer is dead.

Newsone Nigeria reports that a popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso is dead.

This online news platform understands that Rukayat Gawat’s death was confirmed by Ilorin-based cleric, Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh, via his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning, September 24, 2024.

A family member and media aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state, Nigeria’s commercial city, Jubril Gawat, also posted a terse tweet on the micro-blogging site, X formerly known as Twitter, saying “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. Q 2 V 156.”

Before her death, Rukayat Gawat was well-known for her captivating voice, which resonated with many in the Muslim community.

Further details surrounding the death of the popular Nigerian singer are yet to be fully disclosed. It was gathered that her remains will be interred later today according to Islamic tenets and rites.

The deceased Nigerian Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat was married to Insurance guru, Alhaji Shakiri Oyefeso.

The late popular Nigerian singer was regarded as one of the leading Islamic musicians in Nigeria. She was a woman of substance who is passionate about women’s responsibilities in a home which she often reflects in her songs.
