Newsone reports that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari today, May 27, appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff (CAOS) to replace the recently demised, General Ibrahim Attahiru who died in a fatal plane crash en-route Kaduna State along with other senior officers and crew members.
This online news platform understands that until his present appointment, the new Army Chief of Staff was GOC Div. 1 and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counterterrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East code-named Operation HADIN KAI

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
Prior to his appointment, Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter Terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East, code named Operation HADIN KAI.
