President Buhari has extended the old Naira note deadline in a live broadcast.
Newsone reports that Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the restoration of the old N200 note as legal tender.
This online news platform understands that President Buhari extended the validity of the old naira note today, Thursday, February 16, 2023, in a nationwide broadcast.
The President said: “I have approved to the CBN that the old N200 note be allowed along with the new N200 notes for 60 days from February 10 to April 20, when the old N200 note ceases to be legal tender.
“However all the old N500 and N1,000 notes remain redeemable at any CBN branch.
“I have also asked CBN to make the new notes become accessible to citizens through the banks,” President Buhari said.
