Sadio Mane Named 2019 African Men’s Player Of The Year
Senegalese and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has won the 2019 African Men’s Player of the Year for the first time in his career.
YaahooJournalist reports that the Senegal international beat off competition from teammate Mohammed Salah and Manchester City midfielder, Riyad Mahrez.
In 2019, Mane played a total of sixty-three (63) games, scored thirty-five (35) goals, made eleven (11) assists and won three (3) trophies.
Salah and Mahrez did not attend the CAF’s awards gala which held in Egypt on Tuesday, January 7, 2020
Other awards in the men’s category went to Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi, Algerian Youcef Belaili for African Interclubs Player of the Year and Algeria’s national team.
The award for the youth category went to Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi of Borussia Dortmund while the female awardees included Nigerian Asisat Oshoala, South African coach Desiree Ellis, and Cameroon’s women national team.
