SDP Candidate Segun Oni Denies Withdrawing From #EkitiDecides2022

SDP candidate Segun Oni has denied withdrawing from Ekiti Decides 2022 (Ekiti Election 2022).

Newsone reports that the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Engr. Segun Oni says he is still in today’s governorship election race in Ekiti State, southwest Nigeria.

This online news platform understands that Segun Oni made the clarification in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Moses Jolayemi, Saturday morning, June 18, 2022, after a letter went viral on social media, alleging that Oni has withdrawn from the governorship election holding today.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the letter had said that Oni, a former Governor of Ekiti State, said he was withdrawing from the Ekiti election 2022 race due to the ongoing legal and leadership battle rocking the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In his alleged withdrawal letter, the SDP candidate directed his supporters to vote for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Bisi Kolawole in today’s Ekiti governorship election.

But reacting to the letter, Oni’s spokesman Jolayemi described the letter as the latest madness from Oni’s political enemies, saying those behind the fake letter have no meaningful and good intentions for the state.

Jolayemi said: “I will respond to it as a madness. I am debunking the statement as madness. This is the last phase of their madness. I am urging the people of the state to go out en masse and vote for Segun Oni. If it is the will of God, Oni will win the election today.

“But if it is not, those people will die with their madness. Our people should disregard the statement as the handwork of the mad people.”
