Senate Summons CBN Governor, AGF, Others Over P&ID $9.6b
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami as well as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, have been summoned by the 9th Nigerian Senate over Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) Limited $9.6billion penalty awarded against Nigeria.
YaahooJournalistreports that the Senator Ahmad Lawan led Senate summoned AGF Malami and the CBN Governor alongside other relevant government agencies after a closed-door session on Tuesday, September 24.
The Senate, it was learned, summoned them to brief it on the details of the Gas contract to the Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) Limited and the $9.6billion penalty awarded against Nigeria.
Senate’s summoning is coming after a British court gave P&ID the nod to seize Nigerian assets worth $9 billion on Friday, August 16.
Meanwhile, the case in contention is a deal agreement, to build a gas processing plant in Calabar in 2010, which collapsed because Nigeria did not meet its end of the bargain.
