Sunday Igboho has regained freedom after 231 days in Benin Prison.

Newsone reports that Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Ighoho has been released by Benin Republic Government.

This online news platform understands that Suday Igboho was released after spending over 231 days in Benin Republic prison.

Newsone Nigeria recalls that Sunday Igboho was arrested on July 19, 2021 in Benin Republic.

After his arrest, many supporters and Yoruba Nation agitators have lamented the continuous detention of Igboho ‘without trial’.

However, on Monday, March 7, 2022, Sunday Igboho was released to a Yoruba Leader and Leader of the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Banji Akintoye and a French Language Expert/ Deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Wale Adeniran.

Confirming Sunday Igboho’s release in a statement by the Communications Secretary to Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, Akintoye described the release of Ighoho as a Triumph of Truth over Darkness in Yoruba Land.
