Newsone Nigeria reports that the Supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed the election of the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling political party.
In a unanimous judgment on Friday, 19 January 2024, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court dismissed the appellant by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last governorship election, Mohammed Ashiru Isah because it was without merit.
Justice Tijjani Abubakar, who read the lead judgment, held that the appeal was unmeritorious, the appellants having failed to comply with the provision of Paragraph 18(1) and (3) of the First Schedule to the Electoral Act 2022 about the filing of pre-hearing notice at the tribunal.
