Supreme Court Sacks APC National Assembly Member

The Supreme Court has sacked a member of the House of Representatives, Mustapha Usman, representing Yola South/Yola North/Girei Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, northern Nigeria.

Yaahoo Journalist reports that a five-man panel of the apex court ruled in a unanimous judgment on Tuesday, that Usman forged his credentials and also did not participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

This online news medium understands Usman represents his constituency in the House on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ruling means that the Supreme Court upheld an appeal marked: SC/790/2019 by Abdulra’uf Abdulkadir Modibo also of the APC.

Justice John Okoro ked panel also ruled that Modibo, who came second the APC primary, did not participate in all the stages of the election.

The five-man panel of the court, therefore, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to the person who came second in the election and met the constitutional requirements.
