Confusion As APC Lists PDP Senator In Tinubu Campaign Council

Top northern PDP chieftain has defected to APC.

Newsone reports that another member of the House of Representatives from Zamfara State, northern Nigeria, Kabiru Amadu, has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the nation’s ruling party.

This online news platform understands that the top northern PDP chieftain dumped the main opposition party for the ruling APC on the floor of the chamber on Wednesday, July 14.

Newsone reports that the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, read the letter of defection from the top northern PDP chieftain at the plenary on Wednesday.

What to know about the top northern PDP chieftain

Amadu is the last of the six members from Zamfara who had earlier declared their defection at the state level along with Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.

Governor Matawalle had formally announced his defection from the PDP to the APC in Gusau, the state capital, along with members of the federal and state legislatures.

All the 24 members of the state House of Assembly, all the three senators and six out of the seven members of the House had followed the state governor to the ruling party.

Despite this, Newsone reports that the Deputy Governor, Aliyu Gusau; and a member of the House representing Anka/Talata-Mafara Federal Constituency, Kabiru Mafara, have remained in the PDP.
