The election of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has been affirmed by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

YaahooJournalist reports that the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upheld the victory of Governor Makinde, who contested the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday.

Adebayo Adelabu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had filed a petition against Makinde in the March 9 governorship election in the state.

APC and Adelabu had challenged the declaration of Makinde by INEC as the winner of the March 9 governorship election in Oyo State.

Makinde polled 515,621 votes to defeat Adelabu, his closest rival who had 357,982 votes, thereby becoming the Governor of Oyo State.
