The election of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been affirmed by the Sokoto State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

YaahooJournalist reports that the Sokoto State Election Petition Tribunal delivered the final judgment on the Sokoto governorship election on Wednesday, October 2.

The Tribunal struck out the petition brought before it by Ahmed Aliyu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the declaration of the PDP candidate as the winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Abbas Bawale led Tribunal, which initially struck out the preliminary objections filed by the PDP and Tambuwal urging it to dismiss the petition for lacking in merit, on the whole, held that the application by the respondent lacks merit and constituted a waste of judicial time.
