Wike Dumps PDP, Endorses APC Candidate For 2023 Election [Video]
Wike has endorsed APC candidate for 2023 Election.
Newsone reports that the governor of Rivers State, south-south Nigeria, Nyesom Wike, has endorsed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos for a second term in office on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.
Expected by political analysts to support his party’s candidate, Wike, on the other hand, ignored the Lagos governorship candidate of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, to endorse Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Giving reason for dumping PDP candidate for APC candidate, Governor Wike in a now-viral video, said Governor Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressive Congress is doing very well.
Newsone Nigeria reports that Wike’s endorsement of Governor Sanwo-Olu was disclosed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, in a terse statement on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Sanwo-Olu’s Chief Press Secretary tweeted: “Breaking: Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike endorses Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for second term in office. Details later,” Akosile wrote.
Jubril Gawat, another aide to the Lagos State Governor, also confirmed the development with a tweet containing a video where Governor Wike was seen endorsing the AAPC Governor instead of his party’s candidate in the southwest state.
“FLASH: Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike @GovWike today endorsed Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu for a 2nd Term in Office … he says Governor Sanwo-Olu is doing very well.”
