Senate Takes Position On Impeachment Of Buhari Over Insecurity

Buhari has made new appointments.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, March 23, sent a formal request to the Nigerian Senate to confirm the nomination of Salamatu Hussaini Suleiman as Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.

This online news platform understands that the President in the formal letter, also requested the confirmation of fourteen others as Members of the Commission.

The request was contained in a letter dated 17th March 2021 and read during Tuesday’s plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

According to the President, the confirmation request was made pursuant to Section 2(3) of the National Human Rights Commission Act (as amended).

The names of nominees to be confirmed as members of the National Human Rights Commission according to the letter include Ahmad Abubakar Fingilla; Kemi Asiwaju-Okeyonda; Abubakar Muhammed; Mrs Beatrice Jedy-Agba; Amb. Umar Zainab Salisu; Mrs. Dafe T. Adesida; Joseph Onyemaechi Mmamel; and Femi Okoeowo.

Others are: Azubuike Nwakwenta; Jamila Isah; Sunny Daniel; Barrister Agabaidu Chukwuemeka Jideani; Mrs. Nella Andem-Rabana, SAN; Mrs. Idayat Omolara Hassan; and Prof. Anthony Ojukwu.
