Newsone Nigeria had reported earlier soldiers of the Nigerian Army opened fire on peaceful #EndSARS protesters camping at Lekki toll gate in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.

The attack on the #EndSARS protesters in its wake, left “several” protesters dead and others injured according to videos published on Twitter by eyewitnesses.

Hours after the attack, President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over the National Security Council Meeting at the Council Chambers, the State House in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Newsone Nigeria understands that Buhari’s meeting with Service Chiefs might be unconnected to the violence that has marred the #EndSARS protest in some parts of the country.

The meeting with service chiefs has the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo; National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.); Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin; the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar in attendance.

Also present at the meeting are the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi; and Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Rufa’i.
