Bullion Vans: Aisha Reveals ‘Real Reason’ EFCC Cannot Probe Bola Tinubu
Aisha Yesufu, the co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign, has suggested that the “anointing” of Bola Tinubu is the reason the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) cannot probe him.
YaahooJournalist reports that the social activist, who is one the critics of President Muhammadu Buhari made this claim on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Tuesday, October 5.
Aisha, it was learned, was referring to the bullion vans that were spotted at Tinubu’s Lagos residence earlier this year.
YaahooJournalist reports that bullion vans were spotted at Tinubu’s Bourdillon home in Ikoyi, Lagos State a day before the commencement of the 2019 general elections in February this year.
Reacting to the development at the time, Tinubu, the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had frowned at those questioning the appearance of the vans at his residence, saying that since there was no report that the bullion vans contained electoral materials, he had committed no offence.
Tinubu had also said he had not stolen government money, adding that he has had no contact with government money in any way in the last five years.
His words: “What is your issue with bullion vans in my house?
“I have not done any government business in the last five years.
“So I didn’t steal government money.
“And the bullion van was not said to contain election materials.
“So what offence have I committed.
“I have had no contact with government money in the last five years.
“So I don’t see why that should be anybody’s problem.
“It is my money.
“I decide where to keep it and where to keep it.”
Apparently displeased with the EFCC’s inability to probe the incident after several months, Aisha questioned the anti-graft agency’s motive behind the decision.
She wrote: “It is quite pathetic how @officialEFCC is ridiculing itself. Instead of being an institution it has become a organisation in the pocket of a few.
“If Ganduje has immunity & you refused to go after him what does Tinubu have? Anointing?
Are some Nigerians more Nigerians than other?” She questioned.
