President Muhammadu Buhari has named an Economic Advisory Council (EAC) for the “Next Level” government.
YaahooJournalist reports that the President’s Economic Advisory Council has a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Soludo and Mr. Bismarck Rewane as members.
A statement issued by Femi Adesina, the President’s media adviser, said the Economic Advisory Council has Professor Doyin Salami as chairman.
The statement listed other members of the Economic Advisory Council to include Dr. Mohammed Sagagi, Vice-Chairman, Prof. Ode Ojowu, Dr. Shehu Yahaya and Dr. Iyabo Masha.
According to the statement, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on development policy, Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu, will serve as secretary of the Economic Advisory Council.
YaahooJournalist reports that Economic Advisory Council will replace the Economic Management Team (EMT) and will report directly to the President.
The statement said the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) will advise President Buhari on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.
YaahooJournalist reports that the Economic Advisory Council will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President.
The statement added that the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council may, however, request for unscheduled meetings if the need arises.
