Newsone Nigeria reports that that the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has announced that he tested negative for the deadly coronavirus disease after coming in contact with infected persons.
This burgeoning online news platform understands that the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, made this known in a statement on Thursday
The Special Adviser to the Governor also said Obaseki is to remain in self-isolation as the first result is that of the rapid diagnostic test while the governor awaits the result of the PCR test.
“I can confirm that the governor tested negative for coronavirus when he ran the rapid diagnostic test for the virus. However, we are currently awaiting the result of more conclusive PCR test.
“In the meantime, the governor has decided to continue to work in self-solation and he is asymptomatic,” he added.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced five new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), increasing the total number to 51 in Nigeria.
This burgeoning online news platform understands that the five additional cases were recorded in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and Rivers State which recorded its first case, a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Wednesday night, March 25 by the NCDC revealed.
Giving an update on the spread of the disease, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) tweeted: “Five new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 2 in FCT, 2 in Lagos & 1 in Rivers.
“3 are returning travellers into Nigeria & 2 are close contacts of a confirmed case.
“As at 11:25 pm 25th March, there are 51 confirmed cases, 2 discharged and 1 death,” the statement added.
