Details Emerge About Composition Of Tinubu Ministerial Setup

Details have emerged about the composition of the Tinubu ministerial setup.

Newsone reports that Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu is finalizing plans for his cabinet ahead of his inauguration as the President of Nigeria on May 29, 2023.

This online news platform understands that many stakeholders have been jostling for crucial positions in Tinubu ministerial setup and sources have spoken about who might emerge as favourites to land various ministerial cabinets.

A report monitored on ENigeria Newspapers by Newsone Nigeria quoted a source who spoke under anonymity to have said, “Barring any last minute change; Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau seem to have gotten the nod to be the next National Security Advised while Nuhu Ribadu will be the next minister of justice.”

The source further revealed that Tinubu is set to separate the office of the attorney general of the federation — which will be occupied by a yet unknown southwesterner from the Ministry of Justice.

According to the report, Dambazzau got the nod for NSA because of his background in the military, being a former Chief Of Army Staff.

Newsone Nigeria reports that Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau is a retired Nigerian army general and politician who served as Chief of Army Staff between 2008 and 2010 and in President Muhammadu Buhari‘s Cabinet as Minister of the Interior from 2015 to 2019.

“Nuhu Ribadu is set to reposition the Ministry of Justice administratively since his background in law and anti-corruption stance seems fitting,” the source also noted.

Furthermore, Hadiza Bala Usman is the likeliest candidate for the position of FCT Minister, barring any last-minute change and lobbying.

Usman once worked at the Bureau of Public Enterprises from July 2000 to August 2004 as an enterprise officer.

Also From October 2004 to January 2008, she was hired by the UNDP for the Federal Capital Territory Administration as a special assistant to the then Minister Nasir Elrufai on project implementation.

Tinubu, according to our sources, considers this profile fitting for the task ahead in Abuja.

The source also said: “There’s no disputing the fact that most of Tinubu’s political associates in the South-West have their eyes on the cabinet, but I will tell you that it is going to be a tough one to predict those who will make it, given their respective pedigrees.”

Making a case for Babatunde Fashola who has been reported to be the favourite for the Chief of Staff position, the source said, “How can one dismiss Fashola, who not only served as Chief of Staff to Tinubu, but later succeeded him as governor of Lagos State, or Wale Edun and Dele Alake, who served as commissioners under Tinubu?

“Are we also talking about Fayemi, Tunji Bello, Sunday Dare, Mamora or Adeyeye, who is the brain behind the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), which was at the forefront of Tinubu’s presidential project?”

The report also revealed that Wale Edun is being tipped to be the next minister of finance in the Tinubu ministerial setup as Nigerians await the next cabinet in order to move the country forward.
