Drama At Lagos Airport As 250 Cows From US Arrive Nigeria (Video)

No fewer than 250 cows from US arrived Nigeria, stirring drama at the Lagos airport.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that drama occurred at the cargo area at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city when one of the 250 cows flown into the country broke loose from its crate, leaving airport workers at the tarmac running for cover.

This online news platform understands that the 250 cows which were flown in from New Jersey, United States, by the Ekiti State government in crates on a chartered cargo special flight, were being offloaded at the Gate 3 between the Skypower Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) and the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) sheds when the incident occurred.

A video sighted on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, showed that one of the crates carrying the cows got damaged and the ground staff could not secure the cows after offloading which forced one of them to break loose and started chasing airport workers at the tarmac.

However,  airport officials on ground were able to bring the cow under control. The cows have successfully been loaded into waiting vehicles for their transportation to Ekiti State.

NewsOne Nigeria learned that the 250 cows were said to have been imported into the country by Ekiti State government in partnership with a private organisation for their Dairy Farm in Ikun, Ekiti State.

Confirming the development, the Special Assistant on New Media and Digital Communications, Tolu Ogunlesi wrote: “These are Jersey cows imported from the US by
@ekitistategov for their Dairy Farm (in partnership with Promasidor) in Ikun.

“I’m told 250 cows arrived MMIA this morning. It’s like one of the (IJGB) cows decided to do a quick inspection of the airport.”
