Edo 2020: Governor Obaseki Formally Joins PDP (Video)
Governor Obaseki has formally Joined PDP ahead of Edo 2020.
NewsOne Nigeria reports that Governor Godwin Obaseki formally joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party after his recent resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.
This online news medium understands that the Edo Governor was received by the leadership of the party led by the state Chairman of the PDP, Hon Tony Aziegbemi ahead of Edo 2020 election scheduled for September 2019.
Governor Obaseki arrived Edo PDP Secretariat along 1st East Circular Road with many of his followers and appointees, a development which was confirmed by the PDP in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
The PDP tweeted: “The governor of Edo State, H. E. Governor Godwin Obaseki has defected to our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
“The declaration was made this afternoon at the state Secretariat of our party in Benin city, Edo State. Power to the people.”

Meanwhile, NewsOne Nigeria reports that Governor Obaseki’s decision to join the PDP comes days after he was disqualified by the Screening Committee of the APC from seeking re-election on the platform of the ruling party.
In a related development, the Edo APC Primary is scheduled for June 22 while Edo PDP Primary is scheduled for June 23.
