EndBadGovernance Organisers Reject IGP Egbetokun's Proposal Ahead of August 1 Protest

EndBadGovernance Organisers have rejected IGP Egbetokun’s proposal ahead of the August 1 Protest.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the organisers of the planned EndBadGovernance nationwide protest scheduled for August 1, have rejected a proposal for confined protests offered by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.

This online news platform understands that IGP Egbetokun had suggested confined protests in identified locations and advised against street rallies during a meeting with the EndBadGovernance Organisers.

According to the IGP: “It is not advisable to go on street processions because as you are planning peaceful protests, some are planning violence.”

However, one of the lawyers for the Take It Back Movement, one of the groups organising the nationwide protest, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, rejected the IGP’s proposal.

Some Nigerians will on August 1 take to the streets to protest over the current hardship in the country under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

EndBadGovernance Organisers have vowed to hit the streets from August 1st to 10th despite appeals from the federal and state governments.
