Favour Benson Joins The Whole World To Celebrate The Girl-Child

The Executive Director of Jashabel Touch-A-Heart Foundation, Mrs. Favour Benson, joins the whole world to celebrate the International Day Of The Girl-Child.

This is a yearly celebration and the theme for the year 2024 is: ‘Girls’ Vision for the Future.’

According to this year’s theme, Mrs. Benson pointed out the need to listen to girls and invest in proven solutions accelerating progress toward a future in which every girl fulfills their potential.

The Executive Director advised “We should seize every available opportunity to recognize the challenges that girls face around the world while emphasizing the importance of their rights and empowerment.

And also to use different techniques to deepen the awareness surrounding various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are crucial for empowering girls.

Newsone recalls that the International Girl Child Day started with the Beijing Declaration which was the first to specifically call out girls’ rights. On December 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child. This to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.
