A former CBN Deputy Governor has declared interest in the Ogun Governorship Election.
Newsone Nigeria reports that a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Tunde Lemo, has declared his interest in contesting the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
Lemo explained that his decision was motivated by his desire to expedite grassroots development in the state. He stressed that Ogun State has significant agricultural potential that needs to be harnessed for the benefit of the people through appropriate leadership.
The former CBN Deputy Governor disclosed this on Wednesday while participating in the ward congresses at Ward 12, Ita-Agemo, Isale-Igbein, Abeokuta.
Lemo applauded President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and commended the peaceful conduct of the ward congresses, adding that the exercise was aimed at further solidifying the existing unity and harmony within the party’s fold.
The seasoned banker also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun’s development trajectory for putting the state on a path toward progress, particularly the construction of the agro-cargo airport, which has received approval to commence commercial flight operations.
“I don’t want to canvass a personal position here, but my presence here today is to underscore the fact that the APC is an organic party. You can see the crowd, and we are members of one family.
“You have not seen anybody fighting; we are very strong and very vibrant, and people are happy because of the transformative agenda of President Bola Tinubu. At the same time, we are building the base, because today we are having the ward congresses, and from there, of course, we move up to the National Congress.
“I don’t want to canvass for a personal position here, but you all know who I am and what I have been trying to do. By the special grace of God, it is about governance. It is about raising the bar and ensuring the best for our people, and that is what we are doing. By the special grace of God, we will get there.
“Yes, of course, I have my eyes on 2027 just like everyone else, but everything is in the hands of God,” he said.
