Adeleke has been kidnapped by gunmen.

Newsone Nigeria reports that Olayiwola Adeleke, the Chairman, Iganna Local Council Development Area of Oyo State, southwest Nigeria, has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Reports have it that the gunmen kidnapped Adeleke on Sunday night along the Okeho-Ado Awaye road on his way to Ibadan, the state capital.

The council boss, who was abducted along with his driver, according to report, was on his way to meet with the state Governor, Seyi Makinde.

Oyo State Police Spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the incident, saying that efforts are being intensified to get him released and arrest the culprits.

Fadeyi added that more information will be released by the state command as soon as the culprits have been arrested.

The Chairman of Oodua Peoples Congress in Oyo State, Rotimi Olumo, who also spoke, said the group had started combing the forests in the area in search of the politician.
