The House of Representatives has amended the Electoral Act, prescribing jail terms for politicians.
Newsone Nigeria reports that the House of Representatives has amended the Electoral Act 2026 to criminalise dual membership of political parties.
In the amended Electoral Act, anyone found guilty of belonging to more than one political party at the same time will face a fine of N10 million.
This newspaper understands that the green chamber passed the amendment during Wednesday’s plenary.
The House of Representatives also prescribed a maximum prison term of two years for offenders.
