This online news platform understands that a girls’ discussion is scheduled for the 16th of October as part of this initiative in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child.

The International Day of the Girl Child is a global recognition of the accomplishments of girls and women. Each year, the occasion is marked with a specific theme, and the theme for 2023 is “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being.”

Since its adoption by the United Nations in December 2011, October 11 has become a significant worldwide occasion to honor the strength of girls and shed light on the obstacles they encounter.

Newsone Nigeria reports that Mrs. Benson urged girls to Express themselves and also stressed the importance of equal rights for the girl child.

“The International Day of the Girl Child is observed from October 11th to 16th. On the 16th of October, we plan to gather girls for discussions, allowing them to express their perspectives on the importance of investing in girls’ education and ensuring their equal opportunities within society.

“Girls should be provided opportunities to showcase their abilities, be it in a professional setting or any other sphere. This ensures they do not perceive the girl child as inferior simply because of her gender.

“It is very important to invest in the girl child,” she said.

She pledged to utilize her role as an activist to advocate, champion, and create opportunities for girl children, dismantling the obstacles that restrict them and empowering females to achieve greater feats.

This, she said is aimed at transforming the world positively and establishing an equitable platform for them to flourish.
