June 12: Bode George Tells Tinubu What To Do To Fubara

Bode George has advised Tinubu on how to handle Fubara on June 12.

Newsone Nigeria reports that a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bode George, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, urged President Bola Tinubu to forgive the suspended governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, as he did with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, in the spirit of June 12.

This online news platform recalls that President Tinubu suspended Fubara for six months on March 18, 2025, following the political crisis in Rivers State. The president also declared a state of emergency and appointed a sole administrator to oversee the state’s affairs.

Fubara’s suspension was an offshoot of his crisis with stakeholders in the state over the control of political resources.

Three months into his suspension, Fubara visited Tinubu and his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to seek reconciliation.

During this period, there was a reported rift between Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu. The rift became glaringly apparent when the president snubbed Sanwo-Olu during a function in Lagos State.

However, following a meeting of the Governor’s Advisory Council in Lagos, the issue was resolved, with the president assuring Sanwo-Olu that he had forgiven him.

“If Tinubu could forgive Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, then he should extend the same gesture to Fubara.

“On June 12, we will be celebrating Democracy Day. This is a reminder of the true meaning of democracy – the will of the people,” George said.
