Bandits have abducted 50 people in Niger state.
NewsOne Nigeria understands that bandits have abducted not fewer than 50 people in an early morning attack on Bassa community in Shiroro local government area of Niger state, northern Nigeria.
A report monitored on The Nation newspaper by NewsOne Nigeria, says the bandits stormed the community in large numbers in motorcycles in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the report, people were getting set for the day’s activities, which were disrupted by the bandits, causing them to run into the bush for safety.
Sani Abubakar Kokki, the co-convener Concerned Shiroro Youths, confirmed the attack, describing the bandits as terrorists.
The co-convener Concerned Shiroro Youths lamented the bandits attacked the town, causing mayhem on unsuspecting peaceful, unarmed and defenceless locals.
Kokki, however, stated that the number of people kidnapped is not yet certain but said that they were very many.
The co-convener Concerned Shiroro Youths also disclosed that on Tuesday, some other communities in Bassa/Kokki were attacked with many losses recorded.
Kokki said that Shiroro local government area is in dire need of help, as people continue to live at the mercy of the bandits.
Meanwhile, the the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Niger State, ASP Abiodun Wasiu, was yet to issue a statement regarding the attack.
