FG has spoken on another lockdown in Nigeria over COVID-19.
Newsone reports that the Federal Government through the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC), has denied reports of another lockdown in Nigeria.
This online news platform understands that reports emerged on Monday, May 10, suggesting that the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 was proposing another lockdown in Nigeria over the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.
However, Newsone reports that the Special Assistant to the President on New Media and Digital Communications, Tolu Ogunlesi has quashed the rumour, clarifying that the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 is no longer in existence but rather the country now has Presidential Steering Committee (PSC).
A twitter user had raised the alarm about a possible lockdown following a video he saw of the then PTF National Coordinator, Dr. Sani Aliyu speaking on lockdown, but Presidential aide, Ogunlesi responded to the tweet, saying that the video talking about a possible lockdown is an old video.
A tweet clarifying the situation, sighted by Newsone, reads as thus; “This is NOT a new video. It’s from Jan 2021, when the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 was still in existence.
“The PTF has since April 2021 become a Presidential Steering Committee (PSC), so if they’re issuing any videos it will be as PSC not PTF. This video bears PTF,” the tweet about a possible lockdown added.
