The Merits In Power Shift To Southern Nigeria By Thomas Inwalomhe

FG has taken a decision on the Nigerian flag over Chief of Army Staff death.

Newsone reports that Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, May 23, authorised that the National Flag should fly at half mast in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru and ten others who died in a plane crash.

This online news platform understands that President Buhari has directed that the National Flag should fly at half-mast in all public buildings, facilities, and official residences.

Newsone reports that the directive is in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, and the ten officers that lost their lives in a plane crash during an official mission.

In a statement on Sunday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, said this will take effect from Monday, 24 May 2021 to Wednesday, 26 May 2021.

The statement titled, ‘National flag to fly at half-mast in honour of late Chief of Army Staff and others that have paid the supreme price’ read, “His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria has authorised that the national flag should be flown at half-mast in all public buildings, facilities and official residences with effect from Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th May, 2021.

“This approval is to honour the memory and services of the Late Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru, 10 senior military and service members who lost their lives in the plane crash on Friday 21st May, 2021.

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that the Nigerian President also approved a work-free day for the Members of the Armed Forces on Monday, 24 May 2021.

“The President has similarly approved a work-free day for members of the Armed Forces on Monday 24th May, 2021.”
