Students kidnapped in Delta State have regained freedom.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the Delta State Police Command confirmed on Monday night that the nine students who were abducted while travelling along the East-West road in Ughelli, Delta State, have regained their freedom.

This online news platform understands that the development was disclosed by Delta State Police Command spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement posted on the micro-blogging site, X formerly known as Twitter late Monday night, April 1, 2024.

In a report filed by Channels Television, the students were said to have been abducted last Friday night, March 26, 2024.

While confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Command Spokesman said the victims may have been students who were returning from their school in Calabar, Cross River State before they were abducted from the minibus they were travelling in.

Edafe said no ransom had been demanded yet but the police had already swung into action in search of the abductors and their victims.

“The Command is aware of this ugly incident, and we are doing all it takes to ensure that they are rescued unhurt,” the police spokesperson in DeltaState, southern Nigeria, tweeted on his X handle on Monday night.

Providing an update a few hours later on Monday night, Edafe said all victims had regained their freedom.

“All nine of the victims have regained their freedom pls,” the Delta State Police Command Spokesman wrote on X.
